Tranter Shiraz
Totally delicious, as much light to medium-bodied as medium-bodied, its length and aftertaste wholly impressive.
Very serious shiraz with tea-leaf, smoke, dried-berry and slate/flint character. Medium body. Integrated and fine tannins.
Tranter Shiraz is our flagship wine, a tribute to a pioneering Australian, returned WWI soldier George Edwin Tranter who once owned our land. First made in 2008, this medium to full-bodied shiraz showcases Heathcote’s trademark minerality, depth of flavor and intensity.
Suitable for vegans.

Vineyard
Block 3 of our Tellurian vineyard, in Tranter Rd, Toolleen, growing in Cambrian soils formed over 500 million-years. Deep, rich, decomposed greenstone rock with soil depths up to 2m allow roots to reach deep, while relatively low fertility controls vigour and yield.
Winemaking Notes
90% de-stemmed and 10% fermented as whole bunches, with batches fermented separately in open top stainless steel, concrete (stainless steel lined) and 5 year-old 5000L French Oak fermenters. Batches remained on skins for 14 to 64 days, with hand or pneumatic plunging daily during fermentation. Matured for 16 months prior to blending, in a combination of French oak puncheons, demi muids and barriques, and a small portion in older American oak barriques.
